Malaysia Travel Guide
A guide to Malaysia travel will help you with your expedition to the Southeast Asia region. It is situated partly on a peninsula and partly on the island of Borneo. The western part of the region is shared with Thailand.
A passport is needed to get into the territory and most of the time a visa is not needed. Upon entry into the territory, travelers are issued an entry permit stamp which is stamped onto their passport for either 14, 30 or 90 days.
In addition, no visa is needed for United States citizens who are visiting the country for business, social or academic reasons. If you do require a visa for entry, you can apply for one at either the British Embassy or the Consulate in the country in which you have legal residency.
There is a fee to process a visa application. Also, if you extend your visit beyond the stamp on your passport, there will be a fee per day for overstaying in the district. There are several methods of transportation to get into the district including airplane, train, bus, vehicle, and boat.
There are several airports in the jurisdiction in which the majority of international flights land. There are also airports in the area which have a great number of flights within the area. There are two sleeper train services that go to and from the area.
Long-distance coaches also go into this area from places such as Singapore and Thailand. If crossing into this region by vehicle, and International Drivers Permit is required. There are a number of ferry boats that connects at different locations within the country.
If you are on foot, it is possible to walk in and out of Thailand and several other places within the territory however crossing the causeway in Singapore is now illegal. It is not generally recommended to cross into the country on foot.
